Musée Angladon in Avignon will run a four-day summer workshop for children aged 6 to 12 from 25 to 28 August 2026, combining sensory exploration with art-making across the museum and its surroundings. The programme, announced in the museum’s August newsletter and workshop pages, is led by Nathalie Saint-Oyant with Alexandra Siffredi and is structured around a different theme each day, with the final session ending in an exhibition of the children’s creations and an afternoon goûter.

The workshop is presented as a way for young participants to experience the museum differently: “Sentir avant de voir. Toucher avant de comprendre.” Over the four days, the museum says, children will be invited to observe a garden, an odour, a painting and a fabric, and to translate those observations into their own creative work. Sessions are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, with a single-day fee of €20 or €80 for the full workshop. The museum advises bringing a picnic and recommends booking in advance.

Each day of the course has a clearly defined activity. On Tuesday 25 August, ‘Partir en expédition’ sends children into the gardens of Avignon to collect leaves, flowers, fragments and first impressions, before returning to the museum to discover Nathalie’s “bibliothèque d’odeurs,” described as a set of dozens of bottles that each tell a story. On Wednesday 26 August, ‘Nommer l’invisible’ turns the previous day’s gathering into an herbarium and introduces a game of guessing scents from plants, spices and flowers, then inventing colours, words and materials for them.

Thursday’s session, ‘Explorer une maison-univers’, draws directly on the building’s history. Musée Angladon notes that the museum was once the home of the Angladon couple, and says that each room retains its own identity: the salons, library, blue bedrooms and 19th-century gallery. Children are invited to move through these spaces as explorers, looking closely at motifs, objects, furniture, fabrics and frames as they begin to shape an imaginary world of their own.

The workshop concludes on Friday 28 August with ‘Créer sa collection’. Using the museum’s portraits and their notable costumes as points of departure, the children will make playful collages combining their discoveries from the week with elements drawn from the artworks, in order to imagine their own small fashion collection. The final day will also include the week’s closing display of creations, followed by a goûter from 4 p.m.

The summer workshop is being offered alongside the museum’s exhibition programme. Musée Angladon’s main exhibition ‘Un compagnonnage artistique. Jean Angladon et Paulette Martin’ is on view through 30 August 2026, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only, with guided visits offered on Fridays. The museum says the exhibition pays tribute to Jean Angladon and Paulette Martin, who were both artists and collectors and who asked that their home be transformed into a museum after their deaths. A seasonal display of ‘Madeleine Lemaire, Compositions florales à l’aquarelle’ is also running until 6 September 2026.
