Nordiska Akvarellmuseet in Skärhamn has dedicated its Samlingssal to works by Lars Lerin for the summer 2026 season, presenting the Swedish watercolor artist’s images of facades, birch trunks, snow patches, abandoned farms and industrial cities. The display runs from 10 May to 6 September 2026, according to the museum’s exhibition information, and is listed on the museum’s site as ‘Samlingssalen: Lars Lerin’.
The museum describes Lerin’s watercolors as works marked by a masterful light-dark tonal quality and by a persistent return to recurring subjects. The online exhibition text notes that his images “stick in the memory” without relying on rarity, and it places details and atmospheres at the center of the experience. Lerin’s visual range moves from Lofoten’s cold to India’s heat and to the forests of Värmland, where he grew up, bringing near and distant places into the same pictorial field.
The summer presentation is part of a broader 2026 program at the watercolour museum, which is also showing ‘Asger Jorn & Per Kirkeby’ and a selection from ‘Ur museets samling’ through 6 September. In the museum’s newsletter for August, Lars Lerin’s room is described as a special use of the Samlingssal during the summer season, separate from the main exhibition spaces and distinct from the institution’s other ongoing and forthcoming projects.
The museum’s own wording places Lerin’s work within a larger meditation on landscape, memory and presence. Rather than foregrounding spectacular scenes, the exhibition text emphasizes the way the artist’s attention moves over modest details and how his pictures translate mood rather than direct description. The result is a concise summer presentation focused on one artist’s existing works from the museum collection.
Nordiska Akvarellmuseet lists its summer opening period as 10 May to 6 September 2026, with daily opening hours of 11:00 to 17:00, and notes that the museum will be closed for an exhibition changeover from 7 to 26 September. The Lerin display can be seen during that period at Södra Hamnen 6 in Skärhamn.
