The Cafesjian Art Trust Museum will open 'Meet Me in the Forest' on September 3, with an evening reception scheduled from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the museum in Shoreview, Minnesota. The opening night is ticketed at $40 and will include champagne or sparkling water and appetizers, according to the museum’s announcement.
The exhibition itself runs from September 3, 2026, through February 27, 2027, and is described by the museum as an exploration of how artists depict forests, gardens, and other natural worlds. The museum says the show invites visitors into landscapes that carry mystery, mythology, and history, and frames nature as a place where beauty, danger, and human experience intersect.
'Meet Me in the Forest' will feature 21 contemporary works across painting, textiles, mixed media, glass, ceramics, photography, and installation. The exhibition draws on the CAT’s collection, recent acquisitions, and regional and national loans, and includes work by Carrie Mae Weems, Ebony G. Patterson, Ana Mendieta, and other nationally recognized artists and emerging talent.
The show is organized by Jill Ahlberg Yohe, curator of modern and contemporary art, and Linnea Seidling, assistant curator of glass. The museum also thanks the Des Moines Art Center, Farnsworth Art Museum, Walker Art Center, Bockley Gallery, and Gladstone Gallery for lending works to the exhibition.
The CAT has said it will be closed between August 1 and September 3 while it installs 'Meet Me in the Forest'. The opening reception will take place the evening the museum reopens for the exhibition, and tickets are available through the museum’s event listing.
The museum’s exhibition page lists the full run of 'Meet Me in the Forest' as opening soon before its September launch, and identifies several of the featured artists, including Inka Essenhigh, Kelly Sinnapah Mary, Christina Bothwell, Carrie Mae Weems, Erica Rosenfeld, Amanda Michelle Smith, Paul Stankard, Hannah Secord Wade, Nancy Wissemann-Widrig, Emma Wood, Hiroshi Yamano, Kate Clements, Pao Houa Her, Mayme Kratz, and Lori Nix.
