Lëtzebuerg City Museum’s August walks and workshops have ended, with three sessions repeating in September

The Lëtzebuerg City Museum’s summer programme of guided walks, tours and workshops ran through August 2026 and has now finished. Three sessions from the series repeat in September: ‘Museum Break: Ice Cream Dream’ on 3 September at 10:15 in French, ‘Museum Break: Summer wine’ on 3 September at 17:30 in English, and ‘Museum Break: Layers of summer’ on 8 September at 14:00 in French.

The August calendar was built around the city’s history. ‘A medieval walk’, held on 23 August at 14:00 in English, began at the museum with a model of Luxembourg City around 1500 before continuing into the old town, taking in the Three Towers, the Schéieschlach and a section of the 12th-century city wall preserved in the archaeological crypt on rue de la Reine. The walk lasted two hours, was capped at 20 participants and was covered by museum admission or the Kulturpass; the crypt is not accessible to visitors with reduced mobility. The museum lists that date as full.

‘Discover the Muerbelsmillen’ on 9 August at 14:15 took visitors to a mill site dating back a thousand years that operated as a mustard factory until 1985, focusing on traditional mustard production and the preserved waterwheel, gears and millstones. It was free, lasted one hour and was limited to 15 participants; the first floor of the exhibition is not accessible to people with reduced mobility, and the site is at 69, rue de Mohrfels in Luxembourg.

‘Führung: Seit Baumes Gedenken’ followed on 22 August at 15:00 in German and Luxembourgish, a tour tied to a presentation of wooden sculptures that traces three centuries in the life of a tree standing beside the buildings that now house the museum.

In the Creative Studio, ‘Mon petit monde en couleurs’ ran on 23 August from 13:30 to 17:30 as part of ‘City Visions’. Conceived by Zoé Thill (z-Prints), the multilingual activity invited families with children from age three to build a dream city with stencils and stamps across several time slots; it was free for children, while accompanying adults paid museum admission.

Earlier in the month, ‘Museum Break: Summer foam prints’ ran on 13 August at 10:15 and 11:15 in multilingual sessions, with a further date on 27 August, and ‘Museum Break: Ice Cream Dream’ ran on 16 August at 10:15 in English for children from age five, repeated on 30 August in Luxembourgish.
