Lëtzebuerg City Museum has announced a busy August programme that mixes family workshops, guided tours and adult creative sessions, including a summer printmaking activity called 'Museum Break : Summer foam prints' on 13 August. The workshop runs in two slots, 10:15–11:15 and 11:15–12:15, and is described as a multilingual session for children from age 3.
According to the museum’s programme listing, the foam-print workshop invites participants to explore printing techniques through shapes and colours. Children and families will cut, paste and paint on foam shapes to produce a colourful print that they can decorate and keep as a summer memory. The session is free, and booking is required for all workshops by phone or email through the museum’s visitor services.
The foam-print workshop sits within a broader August calendar that the museum has shared through its newsletter and event pages. On 4 August, 'Melusine’s meditations' offers a guided meditation in English led by Val Cielle, described on the museum’s site as a facilitator trained in monumental painting and vocal arts who brings together art and well-being through meditative singing, sound relaxation and guided meditation. The session has a maximum of eight participants and lasts one hour.
Another museum outing, 'Discover the Muerbelsmillen' on 9 August, focuses on a historic site dating back one thousand years that operated as a mustard factory until 1985. The guided tour is listed in English, lasts one hour, is free, and offers a look at the mill’s preserved equipment, including the large waterwheel, gears and millstones used for grinding.
Later in the month, the museum will continue its family-friendly programming with 'Museum Break : Ice Cream Dream' on 16 August in English for children from five years on. The two-hour workshop asks young visitors to make their own ice lollies to decorate their rooms, and the museum lists additional dates for 30 August in Luxembourgish and 3 September in French. A separate family event, 'Mon petit monde en couleurs', is scheduled for 23 August in the Creative Studio within the 'City Visions' exhibition, where children from age 3 and accompanying adults can use stencils and small stamps to build their own imagined city.
The August schedule also includes 'A medieval walk' on 23 August, a two-hour English guided walk beginning at Lëtzebuerg City Museum and continuing into Luxembourg City’s old town. The museum says the tour starts with a model of the city around 1500 before moving on to medieval landmarks, including the Three Towers, the Schéieschlach and a section of the 12th-century city wall preserved in the archaeological crypt on rue de la Reine. The museum notes that the crypt is not accessible to visitors with reduced mobility.
Among the month’s other offerings is 'Museum Break : Summer wine' on 13 August at 17:30, a French-language adult workshop that combines collage-making with a tasting led by Esther Correia from the Luxembourg wine estate Molling Wines. The museum lists a second date for 3 September in English. In the same August roundup, it also points visitors to 'City Visions - Deep dive' on 27 August, an English guided exploration of the exhibition with guide Jean-Marc Arnaudé.
