The Brattleboro Museum & Art Center has received an $80,000 grant from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts to support exhibitions and artist-based programming over the next two years. The museum announced the award in an e-newsletter on 30 July 2026; the foundation's own Spring 2026 grant list, published 9 July 2026, records the award to the Brattleboro, Vermont, museum as exhibition program support spread over two years.
According to the museum, the funding will go toward exhibitions and artist-based programming at BMAC, as part of the foundation's latest round of awards. Joel Wachs, president of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, said in the foundation's announcement, “The work of visual artists is essential to how we understand ourselves, challenge one another, and imagine what is possible. The Foundation is committed to supporting artists and the organizations that sustain them as they carry out some of the country’s most important cultural work, often under extraordinarily difficult conditions.”
The grant comes during a busy public calendar at BMAC. Programs earlier this summer have already taken place, among them a poetry reading by Wyn Cooper and Martha Collins on 30 July, a Gallery Walk with Swords to Plowshares Vermont on 7 August and an art talk with the artist Linda Sok on 15 August. Still ahead are an art talk with Richard Haynes and curator Alison Crites on 29 August, a Pocket Altars workshop on 30 August, a sound bath with Brandy Lefsyk on 22 September and a mixed-media workshop led by Juanita Lanzo on 26 September.
BMAC, founded in 1972 and located in Brattleboro's historic Union Station building, describes its mission as illuminating art and ideas in ways that inspire, inform and connect people. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with admission on a pay-what-you-wish basis.
The newsletter carried the grant news alongside other museum updates. The BMAC Gala, "Small Wonders, Big Ideas," is set for Saturday 12 September at 5:30 p.m. at Retreat Farm in Brattleboro and honours Melany Kahn, founder of the Brattleboro Festival of Miniatures, according to the museum's ticketing page. A separate item pointed to an episode of the Brattleboro Words Trail podcast on the abstract painter Emily Mason.
