The European Museum of Modern Art, or MEAM, has announced 'Sound Fiction | Friday Blues' for Friday, 10 July at 6 pm, pairing a live music event with access to its exhibitions. According to the museum’s agenda page, the concert is billed as part of the museum’s ongoing 'Friday Blues' series, which places art and music in the same visit and includes admission to the exhibitions and a beer with each ticket.

'Friday Blues' is presented on the MEAM website as a recurring Friday programme in which the museum becomes, in its own wording, a hub of art, rhythm and good energy. For 'Sound Fiction | Friday Blues', the featured group is Sound Fiction, described as a Barcelona-based cover band whose repertoire draws on funk and soul classics from the 1970s to the present day.

The setlist outlined by the museum spans songs associated with James Brown and Michael Jackson, and continues through Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer, Stevie Wonder, Bruno Mars and Jamiroquai. The group’s lineup listed on the agenda page includes Inma Sánchez and Niya Luna on vocals, Marc Verbon on keyboards, Jordi Portet on bass, Javi Sola on guitar and Isaac Casal on drums.

MEAM says attendees should visit the exhibitions before the concert, and recommends arriving around 5 pm. The museum’s FAQ notes that exhibition visits take about 45 minutes, that access to the concert room is scheduled from 5:40 pm to 6:55 pm, and that once the concert has started entry will no longer be possible. Tickets are numbered according to the order of reservations, with seating assigned and no later changes allowed.

The same agenda page also states that every ticket includes access to the exhibitions, the concert and a beer. The museum adds that unpaid reservations may be cancelled five minutes before the concert begins, and that tickets bought in advance are not refundable after 6 pm if the holder does not notify the museum of a delay or inability to attend before the performance.

Alongside the concert listing, MEAM is currently promoting an exhibition by Guillermo Lorca, which the newsletter says runs until 27 September. The museum’s agenda and exhibition pages place the music programme and the show within MEAM’s broader public calendar, while the event page identifies 'Sound Fiction | Friday Blues' as part of the Friday Blues concert cycle.
