The Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation will mark the 20th anniversary of its Young Curators Residency Programme with a collective exhibition and a study day on 26 September 2026 at Palazzo Re Rebaudengo in Guarene, Italy. The day will open with 'What about us', a group exhibition curated by Michele Bertolino that brings together works by 23 Italian artists who have taken part in different editions of the programme.
According to the foundation, the Young Curators Residency Programme has hosted nearly 60 international curators since 2007 and presented the work of more than 200 Italian artists. The anniversary exhibition looks back at that history through a selection of works that, the foundation says, reflect on time, memory and the construction of the future. The event is framed not as a retrospective of a single class or cohort, but as a survey of a longer curatorial and artistic network built over two decades.
The programme also includes 'What about us? – Giornata di studi', a full-day conference devoted to the role of Italian art in the international context, existing support networks and strategies for strengthening the presence of Italian artists beyond national borders. The morning session will begin with institutional greetings from Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, president of the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation. The afternoon discussion, titled 'Arte italiana e panorama internazionale', will bring together figures from the museum, gallery, journalism and curatorial fields, including Lorenzo Balbi, Marilena Pirrelli, Eva Fabbris, Luigi Fassi, Tomaso De Luca and Pietro Vallone.
The first panel, 'Young Curators Residency Programme: la costruzione di una rete', is scheduled in English and will feature Anna Colin, Jeppe Ugelvig, Tom Eccles, Mark Rappolt and artist Adji Dieye, with Michele Bertolino moderating. Later in the day, Luca Zuccala will moderate the session on Italian art and the international panorama. The conference will conclude with greetings from Costantino D’Orazio of the Italian Ministry of Culture’s General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity.
At 5 p.m., the foundation will open 'What about us. Arte italiana dallo Young Curators Residency Programme'. The artists listed for the show are Vanessa Alessi, Alterazioni Video, Yuri Ancarani, Rosa Barba, Elisabetta Benassi, Benni Bosetto, Chiara Camoni, Ludovica Carbotta, Manuele Cerutti, Giulia Crispiani, Tomaso De Luca, Binta Diaw, Sara Enrico, Alessandra Ferrini, Benedetta Fioravanti, Claire Fontaine, Valentina Furian, Lorenza Longhi, Diego Marcon, Eva Marisaldi, Liliana Moro, Marinella Senatore and Alessandra Spranzi. The exhibition is curated by Michele Bertolino.
A second opening will take place the same day for 'Alexis Puget. Just like heaven', curated by Leonardo Pietropaolo in collaboration with ENSBA Lyon, the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts.
