Alessandra Ferrini’s film ‘Sight Unseen’ was selected for the 2026 edition and will be viewable in GAMeC spaces from 9 September to 1 November 2026.
The selection was made by GAMeC curators Sara Fumagalli and Valentina Gervasoni.
The 2026 edition brings together films that renegotiate the complex legacy of representation, exploring how moving images can generate new forms of relationship, attention and collective presence.
‘Sight Unseen’ draws on the most complete series of images documenting the capture, trial and state execution of Libyan anti-colonial leader Omar al-Mukhtar by Fascist Italy in 1931; the series could not legally be published until 2021.
In the film, historian Alessandro Volterra’s voice and hands show and describe the images to the camera without fully revealing them.
The film asks who has the right to see, who may be represented and under what conditions.
