Bror Hjorths Hus in Uppsala is preparing to host 'Folkfest - en liten folkmusikfestival', a one-night folk music event featuring four bands on August 28, 2026. The concert runs from 18:00 to 22:00, with doors opening at 17:30, and the programme is set to unfold both inside the museum’s studio and outdoors in its garden and inner courtyard.

The festival is being presented by Bror Hjorths Hus together with the study association Bilda. Ticketing is split between two options: a guaranteed seat costs 260 Swedish kronor, while standing room is 185 kronor, with service fees added. The event description says seating in front of the stages is limited because the organisers have made room for more attendees than usual, and that additional places to sit will be available between concerts.

The evening’s performance schedule begins with Ambra at 18:00 indoors, followed by Jempa outdoors at 19:00, Sajt med S indoors at 20:00, and Kvällom outdoors at 21:00. Food and drink are also part of the setup: the museum garden will offer wraps and fika, and visitors can buy coffee, tea, soft drinks, alcohol-free beverages, buns, pastries and cookies on site. Wraps are recommended to be pre-ordered to secure availability and preferences.

According to the event text, Ambra is a vocal quartet from Uppsala with a fondness for unusual metres and close harmony. Its repertoire moves between Nordic nonsense songs and Macedonian jealousy dramas, alongside polskas, hymns and seven-beat ballads. Jempa is described as a high-energy folk group focused on rhythm and swing, playing mostly original music while remaining rooted in Nordic folk traditions and including some traditional material.

Sajt med S is presented as a young folk band with a particular ear for schottisches, though its repertoire ranges across dance music more broadly. Most of its tunes come from Hälsingland, like the group itself, and the band arranges the material with its own harmonies, accompaniment and variation playing to make the music full and lively. Kvällom draws on Scandinavian folk songs and also takes inspiration from the British Isles, with a repertoire shaped through concerts, a sea-shanty programme and collaborations with choirs and a vocal quartet.

Bror Hjorths Hus is a museum in Uppsala located in the artist Bror Hjorth’s former home and studio, with a gallery for temporary exhibitions, a museum shop and a café section. The museum’s summer opening hours, listed in the newsletter, run through August 23, when it is open Tuesday to Sunday from 12:00 to 16:00; from August 24 onward, it is open Thursday to Sunday from 12:00 to 16:00. 'Folkfest - en liten folkmusikfestival' is scheduled for August 28, 2026, at Bror Hjorths Hus, Norbyvägen 26, Uppsala.
