Museo Casorella in Locarno is showing “Anche noi siamo il Festival! Voci sulla storia del Festival del film di Locarno”, on view from 6 August 2026 to 10 January 2027. The exhibition is curated by the piazza nostra project and opened alongside the start of the Locarno Film Festival 2026.
The museum installs the show in its inner courtyard, inside the old projection booth from Piazza Grande, where visitors find content and background material on the festival's history. It continues outside the museum as an audiovisual route through the city.
Founded in 1946, the Locarno film festival is the oldest in Switzerland, and Museo Casorella notes that some voices are still missing from official accounts of it: former employees, residents, local cultural workers, festival-goers and small business owners. Between 2024 and 2026 the piazza nostra team collected their testimonies, and the exhibition presents them as filmed interviews and archive photographs, offering little-known stories and anecdotes about the festival.
A public presentation of the exhibition was held on Saturday 8 August at 14:00 in the presence of the curators, Joséphine Métraux and Cyril Cordoba. The museum is at Via Bartolomeo Rusca 5, 6600 Locarno, and the exhibition runs through 10 January 2027.
