Suntory Museum of Art in Tokyo’s Roppongi district will mark 20 years since its relocation and reopening there in 2027, with the anniversary falling on March 30 of that year. For the anniversary year, the museum will present four exhibitions under the designation ‘Roppongi Opening 20th Anniversary Exhibitions.’
The four planned projects cover a kiriko exhibition; an exhibition devoted to Shiba Kōkan, identified as a Western-style painter; a presentation of the National Treasure ‘Chōjū-giga’; and an exhibition introducing the space designed by architect Kengo Kuma together with the museum’s collection.
The programme begins with the kiriko exhibition, a presentation described as distinctive to the museum because glass is one of the pillars of its collection. It also includes the first presentation at Suntory Museum of Art in 20 years of the National Treasure ‘Chōjū-giga.’
