Triennale Milano is showing new work by the American artist Peter Halley in Cucina Triennale, the space on the building's lower level (floor –1), until January 31, 2027. Entry is free.
The presentation is the latest chapter in a contemporary-art program that Triennale runs in collaboration with Galleria Massimo Minini. Earlier editions in the same space were devoted to Alberto Garutti and Robert Barry.
Halley, born in New York in 1953, is associated with the neo-conceptualist tendency of the 1980s. For Cucina he has produced a group of works that draws on more than thirty years of his practice, combining fine-art printmaking, installation and digital experimentation.
According to Triennale, the digital medium in these new works is not simply a technical update but a field for experiment within a line of research the artist began in the 1990s. The changes an image undergoes as it moves from print to screen printing, and from installation to digital painting, become part of the work itself. The institution also points to a recurring tension in the series between building up and breaking down, between past and present, and between memory and reinvention.
Among the works on view is "Exploding Cell: Explosion" (2026), shown in installation photographs by Matteo Pasin.
