‘Evening Walkthrough’, the new exhibition by Newcastle artist Sam Wood, is now open at Hancock Gallery and runs until 13 November 2026.
The exhibition consists of original oil paintings made in the fading light between day and night. The collection features oil paintings of friends and familiar North East scenes.
The works follow quiet figures through everyday landscapes, including runners, anglers and cyclists. They include pink blossom above dark lawns and tower blocks glowing beyond the trees.
Faces are often turned away, inviting viewers to wander through each moment and settle into the calm of an evening outdoors.
The exhibition includes works such as ‘By The River’, ‘Meet Me There’, ‘Somewhere Else’ and ‘BMW’. The exhibition page also lists ‘Run’ among the paintings in the collection.
