Abington Art Center is presenting 'Revolutionary Women,' its 2026 summer juried exhibition, on view June 12 through July 20 in the Abington Art Center Galleries in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. The show opened with a reception on Friday, June 12, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and is listed in the center’s exhibition calendar as part of its rotating gallery program.

The exhibition is framed around women trailblazers—figures who push for progress and challenge established norms. Abington Art Center says the theme was developed in partnership with the William Penn Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. The center’s materials describe the project as a juried show built around broad artistic interpretation rather than a single historical reading of the subject.

According to the exhibition page, artists were encouraged to define what 'Revolutionary Women' means to them, whether by referencing historical figures who ignited change, highlighting women in their own lives who inspire them, or making work that reflects progress, transformation, and forward movement. The call for works also invites interpretations that are historical, contemporary, or symbolic, allowing the exhibition to move between personal and public registers of the theme.

One local point of reference is Betsy Ross, who is identified by Abington Art Center as having lived with her daughter, Susanna Claypoole, in Abington Township during her later years. The center notes that Ross is often remembered for her connection to the early history of the American flag, but in this context she is presented more broadly as a figure associated with resilience and determination, qualities the exhibition uses to connect historic and present-day ideas of female agency.

The show includes a long roster of participating artists, among them Nini Adelsberger, Nicole Barrick, Eileen Bilynsky, Elia Boe, Evelyn Bonner Taylor, Reena Brooks, Patricia Dahlman, Dela Darji, Brigida DiGenova, Lauren Doorish, Cynthia Dorsey, David Enriquez, L.A. Feldstein, Katherine Fraser, Alex Karpa, Bonnie MacAllister, Maria Maneos, Mina Markovich, Catherine McShea, Amanda Milz, Kris Parker, Shireen Saidi, Colleen Smiley Rae, Kari Souders, Leeannwyn Stoner, Maria Utzella and Moones Zeydabadi.

Abington Art Center’s page also highlights selected works, including 'I Won't Shut Up' by Evelyn Taylor Bonner, 'Protector' by Cynthia Dorsey, 'Ruth Bader Ginsburg's Collar' by Patricia Dahlman, 'Portrait of Women With Alopecia' by Shireen Saidi, 'Our Flag is Still Here' by Catherine McShea, 'Greta Thunberg' by Bonnie MacAllister and 'Rebellion Dawgs' by Colleen Rae Smiley. A featured image on the exhibition page identifies 'The Fire Inside' by Katherine Fraser, an oil on canvas work.

The exhibition is presented at a time when the center is also listing other summer programming, including its concert series and studio school activities, but the 'Revolutionary Women' show is the main gallery item now on view. The exhibition runs through July 20, 2026, at Abington Art Center Galleries in Jenkintown.
