Abington Art Center in Jenkintown will present ‘Art Behind Bars’ from 10 September through 19 October 2026.
The exhibition features work by Michael Vandergrift, Bryan Witham, Luis Lopez and Josue Benitez, who create art during their incarceration at the United States Penitentiary in Terre Haute, Indiana. The four artists are incarcerated for serious crimes.
‘Art Behind Bars’ considers art as a means of reflection, self-expression and transformation. The exhibition addresses the artists’ experiences, identities and the possibility of personal change.
Vandergrift is a Delaware County, Pennsylvania native.
An opening reception will be held on 10 September, from 6 to 8 p.m.
