Ayyam Gallery has opened 'Tangerine Dreams', a summer collective exhibition that gathers works by a wide group of artists around the visual and emotional possibilities of orange. The show is on view from 8 July to 18 September 2026 at Ayyam Gallery Damascus, according to the gallery’s published exhibition information.
The project presents orange not simply as a color, but as a connective thread running through different artistic practices, generations, and geographies. In the gallery’s statement, the hue is described as occupying “a unique space between intensity and comfort,” and as carrying associations with sunlight, fire, ripened fruit, and shifting horizons. Across the exhibition, orange is used as a vehicle through which artists explore memory, landscape, identity, and transformation.
The exhibition brings together works by Tammam Azzam, Sama Alshaibi, Khaled Akil, Abdalla Al Omari, Thaier Helal, Faisal Samra, Leila Nseir, Mouteea Murad, Kais Salman, Elias Izoli, Asaad Arabi, Mohannad Orabi, Khaled Takreti, and Ousama Diab. Ayyam Gallery’s online preview also lists specific works included in the show, among them Abdalla Al Omari’s 'Integration is Hard' (2023), Tammam Azzam’s 'Plant' (2026), Sama Alshaibi’s 'Gitmo Girl' (2009) and 'Wadi Rum' (2007), and Khaled Akil’s 'When The Heart Is Open' (2024).
According to the gallery text, the color appears “in varied forms,” guiding viewers between moments of energy and stillness while shaping perception and mood. The curatorial framing emphasizes both contrast and continuity: orange can read as radiant and celebratory, but also as contemplative or nostalgic. That duality allows the exhibition to move across media and subject matter without collapsing the works into a single interpretation.
The exhibition’s online viewing-room materials include a short poem, 'Oranges' by Roisin Kelly, presented by the gallery as closely aligned with the works on display. In the preview text, the poem is introduced as a metaphorical companion to the exhibition, linking the act of choosing an orange at a fruit stall with desire, touch, smell, instinct, and emotional trace.
Ayyam Gallery’s published information identifies 'Tangerine Dreams' as part of its summer collective program. The exhibition is listed as current and forthcoming from 8 July to 18 September 2026, with works and installation-view pages available through the gallery’s website and private preview portal.
