Musée Angladon is presenting 'Un compagnonnage artistique. Jean Angladon et Paulette Martin', an exhibition that follows the lives and work of Jean Angladon and Paulette Martin through the former home where they lived and worked in Avignon. The show runs until 31 August 2026 and is open only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, according to the museum’s exhibition listing.

The museum describes the project as a sensitive traversal of the couple’s artistic universe, staged in the same place where they shared an atelier life. Jean Angladon and Paulette Martin were not only husband and wife but also artists and collectors, and the museum frames their story as one of vocation, meeting and creation shared. The exhibition text emphasizes that each developed a distinct style and personality while remaining attentive to one another’s work.

The display also situates the couple within a broader family and cultural history. The museum notes that they were heirs to Jacques Doucet, the Belle Époque couturier and patron of the avant-garde, and that they lived in a private mansion in old Avignon surrounded by treasures passed down by their grand-uncle. Among the works named in the museum’s materials are paintings by Sisley, Van Gogh, Modigliani, Cézanne, Degas, Manet and Picasso, underscoring the exceptional character of the collection associated with their home.

According to Musée Angladon, the exhibition also marks thirty years since the museum opened under their name. The institution says that Jean Angladon and Paulette Martin wished their home to become a museum after their deaths so that their collection could be admired by all. The current exhibition is presented as an homage to that wish, while also drawing attention to their own practice as painters and engravers.

A related guided visit is being offered on Fridays from June through August 2026, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The museum says the visit invites audiences to discover an “universe” of mastered, free and deeply inhabited works, and to follow the couple’s shared creative life through their former residence. The visit is scheduled to last one hour, with reservations handled through the museum.

The museum’s announcement also places the exhibition alongside a seasonal hanging devoted to Madeleine Lemaire’s 'Compositions florales à l’aquarelle', on view until 8 September 2026. For 'Un compagnonnage artistique. Jean Angladon et Paulette Martin', the exhibition listing gives the opening hours as 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the museum’s regular opening days, with the show available only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through the end of August.
