'BEYOND THE STREETS' returns to Saatchi Gallery with an all-new exhibition opening this November, bringing together new, historic and previously unseen works by leading figures in international street culture. Spanning more than ten gallery rooms, the exhibition brings together over 100 international creators. It traces six decades of the extraordinary influence of street culture on contemporary art, photography, fashion, music and activism.
The material range includes paintings, sculptures, fashion, ephemera, large-scale installations, immersive environments, new commissions and rare archives. Its story is told through innovators and legends from graffiti, street art, hip-hop and 2Tone, as well as a wider ecosystem of people willing to challenge boundaries and take risks.
Named exhibition features include 'Freestyle ’85', 'History of Spray Paint & Infinity Room', 'Subway Art', 'Tube Graffiti History' and 'Londonz Burning Archive'. Other features cover '2Tone Fashion & History', 'BreakBeat Lou – Ultimate Breaks & Beats', 'Hip Hop Polaroids', 'Rubbish Stuff Puppet Shop' and 'Pedestrian Graffiti'.
The exhibition also features site-specific interventions, historic works and interactive experiences, alongside paintings, sculptures, fashion, ephemera, large-scale installations, immersive environments, new commissions and rare archives.
