The new, site-specific installation will bring together sculpture and film, transforming the foyer into a cinematic landscape.
Responding to the height of the Barbican’s Foyer Lightwell, the installation will include a 35mm film projected onto the building’s architecture. Visitors will encounter the structure from multiple viewpoints, experiencing shifts in sound, light and perspective as they move through the building.
Across moving image and installation, Barba’s work draws on celluloid film, projectors and screens to question the relationship between image and perception, memory and time. She often takes landscapes as her starting point, understanding them as sites marked by political, technological and historical change.
