MACBA Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art has announced a teacher-training course led by art historian and educator Loli Acebal, scheduled for 6-10 July 2026 from 10am to 1pm. Titled 'Narcises insubmises. Una dansa col·lectiva', the programme invites educators to reflect on how representation, action and collective construction can be explored from the classroom.
According to the museum’s announcement, the course asks a series of related questions: how people represent themselves today, who produces images, who looks, and what forms of self-representation can activate collective subjectivities. The training is framed as a research-and-practice workshop focused on identity, image and representation, with participation limited and prior registration required.
The course is anchored in MACBA’s exhibition 'Com una dansa d’estornells. Col·lecció MACBA: trenta anys i infinites formes de ser', from which participants will analyse selected works. The programme also includes the creation of a collective action-piece inspired by artists including Àngels Ribé, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Onofre Bachiller and Rosario Zorraquín. The museum describes Acebal as an art historian and educator.
The announcement places the course within MACBA’s education activity and presents it as part of the museum’s ongoing commitment to dialogue, experimentation and collective learning. It is also linked to a wider summer invitation to take part in the course within the framework of 'Narcises insubmises. Una dansa col·lectiva', which the museum describes as a reflection on representation, action and collective construction.
In its own words, the museum says that it recognises the work of teachers and understands current struggles for more dignified public education conditions as inseparable from the collective building of education. MACBA says it wants to continue offering spaces for meeting, listening and experimentation from the museum while respecting the decisions of each educational community.
The teacher-training course will take place at MACBA Barcelona, with places limited and registration handled through the museum’s education department. Interested participants are invited to contact educacio@macba.cat or call 93 412 14 13 for enrolment and further information. The course runs from 6 to 10 July 2026, 10am to 1pm.
