An exhibition marking 30 years since Kumi Sugai’s death opens on 2 October 2026.
The museum said preparations for the exhibition galleries continued until immediately before the opening, when the preparation of the exhibition rooms was finally completed.
The announcement presents the gallery as a place to experience the force of the works, saying that this cannot be conveyed entirely on a screen.
The announcement identifies Sugai’s 1968 work ‘Preparation Complete’ as being in the collection of Hiroshima Prefectural Art Museum.
The museum announced that it will open at 10 a.m. on 2 October.
