Bassins des Lumières in Bordeaux is preparing an immersive exhibition dedicated to Henri Matisse, titled 'Matisse: La symphonie des couleurs'. According to the venue’s website, the exhibition opens on 7 February 2026 and invites visitors into what it describes as a vivid journey through Matisse’s universe, presented as a chromatic parcours that moves from Fauvism to the stained-glass windows of the Chapelle du Rosaire.
The project is part of the programming at Bassins des Lumières, the large immersive art site at Impasse Brown de Colstoun in Bordeaux operated by Culturespaces. The institution’s website presents the Matisse experience as a sound-and-light installation designed around the artist’s work, with production by Culturespaces Studio and artistic direction by Virginie Martin. The mise en scène and animation are credited to Cutback, with musical supervision and mixing by Start-Rec.
The exhibition page highlights a sequence built around Matisse’s changing use of colour. Visitors are led from 'Nus bleus' to Fauvism, then through the shimmering palette of 'Luxe, calme et volupté'.
