It is connected to the twinning of Perpignan and Palma de Majorca, formalized in 2024, and to a close partnership with the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró in Majorca, identified as the exhibition’s principal lender.
The presentation brings together nearly 100 works in painting, sculpture, ceramics, drawing, engraving and lithography. These works occupy almost 400 square metres of the museum’s temporary-exhibition space, specially scenographed for the occasion.
At its centre is the formal evolution of Miró’s work after his settlement in Majorca in 1956. The parcours moves from his early figurative work in Catalonia to the large gestural canvases of maturity, following an inner movement toward the essential and toward an autonomous pictorial language freed from anecdote.
In the Majorcan studio, Miró continues an aesthetic research in constant transformation, further freeing gesture, material and sign. Its creative process is marked by experimentation, breaks and renewals, while the work is presented as being in perpetual revolution.
The Majorcan studio is central to Miró’s creative process: it is a space of research and rêverie.
