The Musée d’art Hyacinthe Rigaud will open 'Étienne Terrus. Un peintre libre' in the Galerie Lazerme from 19 September 2026 to 24 January 2027, during the 43rd edition of the European Heritage Days.
The exhibition will present about 40 works, inviting Terrus into dialogue with his contemporaries.
In 2025, the City of Perpignan acquired an unpublished portrait of Étienne Terrus painted around 1905–07 by the neo-Impressionist Maximilien Luce. The work serves as the starting point for an exhibition devoted to the rediscovery of Terrus, whom the museum describes as a discreet but essential figure in the artistic history of Roussillon.
A close associate of Aristide Maillol, Terrus was portrayed by him in a bust now displayed in the Musée Rigaud’s permanent collection.
