An exhibition of Florence Henri (1893–1982) will run from 29 August 2026 to 10 January 2027.
The exhibition is organized by the Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern and Palazzo Ducale in Genoa, in collaboration with the Florence Henri Archive.
More than 80 works, including drawings, paintings, photographs and collages, will trace Henri’s artistic development from paintings made during her studies with Fernand Léger in the 1920s, through experimental photography, to her return to abstract painting from the 1940s until her death.
Born in New York in 1893, Henri lived in Munich, Paris, Rome and, finally, on England’s Isle of Wight; she also attended the Bauhaus in Weimar and Dessau, where Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky taught, and these stays played a decisive role in the development of her artistic language.
The Zentrum Paul Klee’s permanent presentation 'Kosmos Klee. Die Sammlung' provides a chronological overview of Klee’s artistic work through around 70 works, biographical material and archival items, which are regularly replaced.
