A mural by visual artist and illustrator Laura Lehtinen has been completed in the entrance lobby of Kannusali, a concert and event venue in Espoo. An opening ceremony for the mural is scheduled for 8 October 2026.
Titled 'Tuolla alla liikahti jokin,' the work guides visitors step by step toward the cultural experiences awaiting them in Kannusali’s underground spaces.
The imagery draws on the nature surrounding the area, stories connected with the locality and Kannusali’s broad programme of events, bringing those sources into the mural’s visual material. More than 60 metres long, the painting is Lehtinen’s interpretation of the Kannusillanmäki area and its local stories, in which urban city life with concerts is intertwined with the nature of the nearby area.
Lehtinen was selected as the mural’s artist through a public portfolio search organised by EMMA, a process that received nearly 150 portfolios.
