Ida Tursic and Wilfried Mille are exhibited at Carré d’Art – Musée d’art contemporain for a few more days. Hélène Audiffren is the exhibition’s curator.
Presented under the title ‘Tursic & Mille — Dissonances à géométries variables’, the exhibition runs from 25 April to 11 October 2026. It frames the artists’ practice, developed as a duo for more than 20 years, as a direct examination of painting’s conditions of existence in a world saturated with images. Their work does not seek to preserve the medium or assert its purity, but instead exposes painting to excess, collision and dissonance.
Tursic and Mille draw on a broad range of image registers, including landscapes, portraits, still lifes, abstraction, advertising imagery and learned references. From these sources, they compose paintings crossed by multiple layers, interruptions, accidents and parasitic gestures.
The images are extracted, displaced and superimposed, and are sometimes altered until they nearly disappear. These operations produce persistent tensions between figuration and abstraction, and between recognition and disorientation.
The exhibition’s logic of dissonance is always variable and runs through the show, placing visitors inside the artists’ studio world. Guided visits to discover Ida Tursic and Wilfried Mille’s world are offered with a mediator at 16:00 on Saturdays and Sundays, including 4, 10 and 11 October 2026.
