The Museum of African Art’s exhibition ‘Reci: Art – Waste as a Resource’ and its accompanying garden programme ‘Reci: SkulptUra’ have been extended through 11 October 2026.
For this occasion, the museum collection was expanded by 100 new objects through acquisitions and donations, adding objects obtained by both of the stated routes.
The exhibition focuses on utilitarian objects, jewellery and souvenirs made from industrial solid waste material in sub-Saharan Africa, bringing these three forms of object into the presentation. It presents creative responses by individuals, associations and companies that turn this problem into an opportunity, identifying each of those groups as a source of such responses.
The thematic units are organized according to the material from which the objects are made: plastic, metal and glass packaging, textiles, paper, and even rubber flip-flops.
The accompanying ‘Reci: SkulptUra’ programme includes sculptures by young sculptors Petar Božović, Marko Blanuša and Damjan Božović.
