The live BanffPitch 2026 showcase is scheduled for November 7, 2026, at 2 p.m. in the Max Bell Auditorium at Banff Centre, with free admission. The five projects are Matt Steeves’s ‘Water is Life’ from Canada and Guatemala, Nico Muñoz’s ‘Lithium Ghosts’ from Argentina, Alex Mackenzie Williams’s ‘The Unmeasured Ascent’ from Canada, Lobzang Wangtak’s ‘Moving Mountains’ from India, and Maia Wikler’s ‘Kills the Root’ from Canada.
The competition is open to emerging filmmakers of all ages and nationalities. Applicants were required to submit a project proposal video under five minutes, in English or with English subtitles for a non-English proposal, along with a project outline or letter of intent of no more than one page covering the concept, ideal cast and creative team. The application materials also included a synopsis of no more than 200 words, a budget, a timeline and development stage, links to past-work samples under two minutes, and a résumé or CV detailing relevant experience and training.
The winning pitch will receive a $25,000 CAD cash award to support the film project.
