Greer Lankton’s ‘Could It Be Love’ has a member preview scheduled for Friday, November 13, 2026. The preview is free for Mattress Factory members.
The exhibition will present 24 rarely seen photographs of Lankton’s iconic dolls, with every image taken by Lankton herself. Presented in partnership with Magic Hour Press, ‘Could It Be Love’ follows the release of the first major monograph on Lankton’s photographic work.
The exhibition describes Lankton as the East Village artist known for her uncannily lifelike dolls and fearless exploration of gender, beauty, and the body. It celebrates her not only as a trailblazing trans artist but also as a completely original image-maker.
The exhibition reveals Lankton’s uncanny ability to imbue life into her sculpted figures as they lounge, gossip, and perform across New York’s gritty and gorgeous downtown scene. Her lens captured a world of oddballs, queer icons, and doll-like doppelgängers with equal parts glamour, melancholy, and wit.
‘Could It Be Love’ is curated by Francis Schichtel and Jordan Weitzman. Mattress Factory describes itself as an artist-centered museum, an international residency program, and a renowned producer and presenter of installation art.
