The Saturday programme runs from 9am to 5pm on September 26 and includes artist presentations by Nicholas Herrera, Esha Chiocchio, Alice Leora Briggs and Mark Spencer.
The salon features artwork by Alice Leora Briggs, Rabbett Before Horses, Esha Chiocchio, Irene Hardwicke Olivieri, Nicholas Herrera, Francisco Mayor Maestre, Jeremy Miranda and Mark Spencer. Evoke describes the salon as carrying forward the tradition of salons as catalysts for artistic dialogue and intellectual exchange, creating a space where creativity and conversation converge. For this September edition, the gallery says the works and presentations explore identity, history and transformation.
Briggs will provide a brief glimpse of a new project that records her care for her live-in Mom, who will celebrate her 105th birthday on October 12.
Herrera’s scheduled talk is titled ‘A New Mexico Artist on New Mexico Life’ and is described as an informal talk. The artist’s early drawing experience began with Greco-Roman ancient history, perspective and drafting classes as a junior high student, including study with a student of Frank Lloyd Wright.
That path also included beginning sculpture at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, before leading to his career as a neo-surrealist painter.
