The opening weekend of ‘Ha Chong-Hyun: Retrospective’ is Saturday, September 26. Titled ‘Discover Ha Chong-Hyun: From Conversation to Creation,’ the event is scheduled for 11:00 AM that day.
Director Soyoung Lee and Guest Curator Sunjung Kim will lead a conversation exploring the artistic techniques and creative process of Korean artist Ha Chong-Hyun.
The program also offers visitors a way to experience Ha Chong-Hyun’s work through looking, listening and making. That sequence extends the opportunity beyond looking at art alone, incorporating listening and making as additional ways to engage with the artist’s work. Visitors are invited to continue to the Art Lab and leave with a work of their own.
Lee became the Asian Art Museum’s Barbara Bass Bakar Director and CEO in April 2025.
Kim is the founder and artistic director of the REAL DMZ PROJECT, an ongoing art and research initiative launched in 2011. The initiative explores the visible and invisible borders of the Korean Demilitarized Zone through the critical lens of art.
