The presentation ‘Omuta—100 Years of Shigeo Egami’ will introduce the full scope of Shigeo Egami’s work in Tokyo for the first time.
Egami lived in Omuta, Fukuoka, and remained committed to making art independently as a self-taught artist. He lived from 1912 to 2014.
His materials included pencil, watercolour, pastel and crayon, everyday art supplies that formed part of his working practice.
Throughout his practice, Egami continued to engage with the landscapes around him, maintaining a focus on the scenery close to where he lived.
