In ‘Dictionary of Imaginary Places’, Fishkin addresses imagination as one of the important ways of interacting with reality. The installation’s title refers to the encyclopedia of imaginary toponyms from world literature by Alberto Manguel and Gianni Guadalupi, published in 1980.
Over the years, the artist has made several versions of the work, adapting it to the conditions of its presentation.
For Fishkin, light, sound and optics are not tools but strange, magical devices; his artistic gestures are simultaneously ironic and touching.
