The exhibition is scheduled to close on 25 October, with a programme designed to broaden its narrative and deepen understanding of Charles Deering, his Maricel project and the cultural and artistic context of the first decades of the 20th century.
The first event will take place on 17 September: ‘L’empremta de Charles Deering’, a visit led by curator Sebastià Sánchez Sauleda. Participants will be able to discover the legacy the American collector left in Sitges and the scale of the project he promoted there. Held at the Espai Rocamora of the Museu de Maricel, the session will place Deering within the broader development of Hispanic-art collecting in the United States, which played a significant role in the international circulation of works and artists.
Two further guided-visit dates are scheduled for 19 September and 17 October, with sessions in English at 10 a.m., Catalan at 11 a.m. and Spanish at noon.
The music repertoire will consist of American jazz pieces from 1900 to 1929, offering an approach to the musical context of the first decades of the 20th century and expanding the exhibition’s narrative through the sounds of an era marked by profound cultural and artistic transformations. The announced programme also proposes guided visits, a conference, a music concert and an activity linked to the landscape and natural environment.
The exhibition reconstructs, through works from the Col·lecció d’Art Banc Sabadell, the presence of several Catalan and Spanish artists from the early 20th century who formed part of Deering’s collecting world.
