Howard University will present ‘Necessary Means: Adreinne Waheed on Gathering & Power’ at the Howard University Museum in Founders Library, where the exhibition opens on October 14, 2026.
The exhibition examines the dynamism, beauty and political force of collective Black life across the African Diaspora through Adreinne Waheed’s photography. It traces how Waheed’s Howard University roots shaped a photographic practice centered on Black joy, protest, community and collective action.
The presentation brings together Waheed’s documentary street photography and selections from the Waheed Photo Archive.
The Howard University Museum presents the exhibition under the title ‘Necessary Means: Adreinne Waheed on Gathering & Power’. The announcement was published on September 16, 2026, by Chad Eric Smith, director of strategic communications and marketing for Howard’s Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts.
