Fernando Sánchez Castillo Reinterprets Symbols of Power in 'La Perla Peregrina'

Julio González was born in 1876. The artist revolutionized sculpture by daring to ‘draw in space’.

‘The Machine Dreams of Smoke’ arises from the Museo Reina Sofía’s invitation to Eli Cortiñas to revisit ‘The Most Given of Givens’, a video-graphic work recently acquired for the Museo Reina Sofía Collections.

The collaboration between Julio González and Pablo Picasso began in 1928 and was described as the true catalyst for González’s artistic maturity.

The reinterpretation is rendered through a convulsive line and a pronounced contrast between black and white.
