The exhibition 'Tesori. Il grande romanzo dei musei bresciani. 1826–2026' will mark the bicentenary of the founding of Brescia’s civic museums. It runs from 4 November 2026 through 22 August 2027 at Museo di Santa Giulia.
The exhibition presents a corpus of 100 works that are usually kept in storage and are being revealed to the public. The project is curated by Stefano Karadjov and Roberta D’Adda.
Covering a broad chronology from antiquity to the contemporary period, the exhibition connects material evidence with the stories of individual citizens who, in different ways, studied and donated the works and objects that now enrich the city’s museum heritage.
The initiative outlines a history of collecting in Brescia in which objects become traces of the women and men who cared for them, as well as effective instruments for transmitting memory. It presents the formation, growth, preservation and enhancement of the city’s museum heritage as a shared history.
The project is promoted by the Municipality of Brescia, Fondazione Brescia Musei and Alleanza Cultura, in collaboration with Museo Scienze Naturali Brescia and the Sistema Bibliotecario Urbano.
