'I Wish We Had More Time' Brings Together 34 Positions Across Art and Other Fields

The Institute of Queer Ecology’s exhibition ‘I Wish We Had More Time’ brings together 34 positions from art, science, literature, music and performance. It examines the varied dimensions of loss across ecological, communal and personal realms.

In nature, the exhibition addresses disrupted symbioses resulting from climate change, through which the sensitive interplay between species and phenological phases falls out of balance. It also considers breaks in queer histories and narrative traditions caused by social crises such as the AIDS epidemic.

Its account of personal loss includes the consequences of two living beings meeting at the wrong time or in the wrong place: missed encounters and melancholy.

That change is described through the balance between growth and decay, life and death, emergence and decline. The Institute of Queer Ecology is associated with ‘Metamorphosis, Episode 1: Grub Economics’ and ‘Metamorphosis, Episode 3: Emergence’, both from 2020. It is also associated with ‘Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow (Zapopan)’, from 2025.
