An exhibition created by Bleak Fabulous in collaboration with the National Library of Wales, Wales Millennium Centre and West Monmouth School brings together photographer Clémentine Schneidermann, filmmaker and creative director Charlotte James, and young people from the Traveller community in Pontypool.
Over four days, the group explored costumes inspired by the theme of “celebration,” producing a series that reflects on femininity, adolescence and Traveller culture. The project was inspired by archival material, including footage from the Wales Broadcast Archive, part of the National Library of Wales.
Workshops in costume design, photography and set design gave the young participants a hands-on introduction to the creative industries.
Since 2015, Schneidermann and James have worked with youth groups across South Wales, redefining documentary photography through creative collaboration.
