Pete Doherty’s exhibition ‘Northumberland’ is scheduled for the Production Gallery from September 18, 2026, to February 20, 2027.
In ‘Northumberland,’ boxing photographer Pete Doherty reassembles a life altered by illness and loss. He had spent decades documenting boxing and its community before illness in his family turned his attention inward, toward the everyday people and places in his life.
His father suffered a debilitating stroke, while his mother was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer; both parents died within a year of each other. To make sense of this new existence, Doherty began reassembling fragments of his life and inserting himself into the narrative to bring its aspects together as a whole.
Doherty combined his boxing work with images of his family, town, and landscape.
The series depicts being alive in a world where loved ones are suddenly gone, while Doherty seeks to honour the beauty, suffering, resilience, and sheer doggedness of the world around him.
