Sabrina Vachon’s ‘body — mind — distance’ is listed in the Vitrines from September 18 to November 7, 2026. The exhibition is curated by Cassidy Alejandria, a recipient of Gallery 44's Career Launcher Curatorial Incubator.
The exhibition explores the tension between how diasporic bodies are perceived in different contexts and the psychic distance between body and memory. Vachon examines the friction that occurs when the way one perceives themselves contradicts how one is perceived in unfamiliar landscapes.
Vachon is an emerging artist in the GTHA and an undergraduate student in McMaster University's Integrated Arts Program, where she works primarily in visual art, new media and performance. Working as part of the Asian diasporic community, she explores how intersecting parts of identity, perception and performance can create a sense of liminality and in-betweenness.
