‘ICC Annual 2026: Preserving / Remaining / Receiving’ is scheduled to run from 20 June to 8 November 2026.
Wu describes the project as a history of how Taiwan’s camphor forests became part of the global history of visual media, connecting forests, colonial archives, Indigenous resistance, industrial production and global trade routes.
The installation combines three videos and display cases from the series, placing them inside and around a camphor hut split in half. Related works listed for the series include ‘Celluloid Stories: The Factory of Exhibited Film,’ ‘Celluloid Stories: The Gaze of Ghosts,’ ‘Celluloid Stories: The Road (after Chen Huoquan’s ‘The Road’)’ and ‘Celluloid Stories: Terra Nullius Data.’
Wu says she uses film to revisit separated moments, reconnect disconnected scenes and reconsider how history was constructed, while examining the links between apparently natural or invisible technologies, resource extraction, colonial histories and environmental relations. She also says that new technologies inherit much older histories and reappear in different forms.
