The screening programme runs from 19 September to 8 November 2026, every Saturday, Sunday and public holiday. Presented in connection with the exhibition ‘ICC Annual 2026’, it brings together video works by Rosa Menkman and Young Eun Kim, recordings of past ICC events, and works from the ICC video collection to deepen understanding of the exhibition’s themes.
The exhibition and programme examine how the relationship between history, technology and media has shaped the formation of history and memory, while questioning the acts of preserving and recording themselves.
Rosa Menkman’s approximately 56-minute programme ‘Missing Vision’ (2026) recombines video works made since 2010 around the history of technologically standardised images, including PAL and JPEG, industrial image standards, compression technologies, and what those systems exclude or make invisible.
The approximately 76-minute ICC video collection section includes Yoshitaka Shimano’s ‘TV DRAMA’, Steina Vasulka’s ‘Violin Power’, Steina and Woody Vasulka’s ‘Soundsize’, Bill Viola’s ‘Sodium Vapor (including Constellation and Oracle)’ and ‘Chott el-Djerid (A Portrait in Light and Heat)’, and Yasuto Yura’s ‘CASE’.
The programme also includes excerpts from a symposium on media archaeology and artists, an ICC interview with Toshio Iwai, and a special talk by Erkki Huhtamo on the possibilities of media archaeology. Organised by NTT InterCommunication Center [ICC], the screenings require a same-day admission ticket to the ‘ICC Annual 2026’ exhibition and are admitted on a first-come, first-served basis.
