BYU student photographers are invited to submit photos for the MOA’s first-ever photography competition, themed ‘Photojournalism as Self-Portrait.’ All submissions must be made by 11:59 PM on October 1.
Winning photographers will be invited to present their photos at a public event with Kirk Sharp, Executive Director of the Gordon Parks Museum, on October 22, 2026.
The competition is open to all current BYU students, who may submit one entry of up to five photographs and a caption, with a single image designated as the cover. Submissions should enlighten viewers about both their subjects and the photographer.
Only still photography will be accepted; photographs may be edited, but AI may not be used to create or alter images in any way.
The competition is presented in connection with the exhibition ‘Homeward to the Prairie I Come’ and the work of photographer Gordon Parks. The museum describes Parks as a celebrated photojournalist whose work illuminated events, stories and individuals around the world, particularly in the United States, while also revealing the artist through his subjects.
