Ichihara Lakeside Museum issued a catalog on September 11, 2026, featuring photographs and introductions to all exhibited works from Parts 1 and 2 of '暗闇をくぐってみたら', as well as contributions and a conversation by Erika Kobayashi and Mariko Asabuki.
After closing completely for renovation from January through April 2026, the museum is presenting, through September, a theatrical sequence of solo exhibitions by two groups of artists with entirely different styles during its partial reopening.
Drawing on interviews with residents of a village submerged by dam construction and documentary photographs, Yuriko Sasaoka has produced and presented a new video installation based on the land’s memories. In the video, Sasaoka plays the villagers who were forced to relocate because of the dam’s construction and sings a song she wrote and composed herself.
Sasaoka was born in Osaka Prefecture in 1988 and is currently based in Shiga Prefecture.
