'L'Étiquette Bleue' opens at Photoforum Pasquart in Biel/Bienne on 19 September 2026 at 17:00 and runs from 20 September to 29 November 2026.
The exhibition responds to the archive of Domenico Quirici, an amateur photographer who documented social change in Ticino during the 1890s.
After moving to Bidogno in Ticino, Benoit Chattaway became interested in Quirici’s work and photographed the village, its traces of the past and the technologies shaping its present.
Rather than offering a straightforward historical rereading, the project examines the social, technological and perceptual implications of images.
It asks how media infrastructures shape visual experience, interpersonal relationships and the construction of the gaze, connecting historical image worlds with contemporary image culture.
