The encaustic exhibition Jen Little: Wax. Pigment. Fire. will stay on view at the Hollywood Art and Culture Center in Hollywood, Florida, until Sunday 27 September 2026, four weeks past its original closing date. The organisation, which brands itself The Center, announced the extension in its email newsletter, saying the longer run gives visitors more time with the show.
The gallery's own exhibitions pages still give the run as 30 May to 30 August 2026, so the new closing date is documented at this point only in the email. The show occupies the upstairs gallery at the main building at 1650 Harrison Street, and was one of three exhibitions that opened together on 30 May, alongside a six-artist survey of South Florida printmaking and a veterans' printmaking portfolio made with a local VA medical centre. Neither of those two is listed as continuing.
Little works in encaustic, a wax-based painting medium: beeswax and resin are mixed with pigment and fused with a flame, a process the gallery credits with the depth of surface and light in the paintings. Its description stresses layering and texture rather than subject matter, and it does not say how many works are on show, whether any are for sale, or whether any talk or demonstration accompanies the extended period.
Admission is listed at $10 for non-members. The member rate is given inconsistently across the gallery's pages, free on the summer exhibitions page and $5 on the exhibitions index, so members may want to check before travelling. Posted hours are 11 AM to 6 PM Wednesday to Friday, with Thursdays open until 8 PM, and noon to 4 PM at weekends; Mondays are closed and Tuesday is not listed at all. Within the extended window that leaves a limited number of open days.
The held-over run also means the encaustic show overlaps the new autumn programme, which opens with a free reception on Thursday 17 September and presents work by Kristen Thiele, Harumi Abe and Cari Cohen from 18 September to 17 January. Visitors arriving for those exhibitions can still catch Little's before it comes down.
The extension is the only change the gallery has announced; it has not said whether the show could be held over again or whether it will travel elsewhere. Anyone planning a visit should work to the 27 September date and the posted opening days, and confirm by phone if travelling a distance, since the website has not yet caught up with the email.
