Dart Gallery will launch a new solo collection of 19 paintings by Colin Willey on 11 September. The presentation brings Willey’s recent plein-air work to the gallery after several months spent setting up his easel around the South Hams.
Dartmouth, Dittisham, Hope Cove and Salcombe feature in the collection, which is billed by the gallery as a group of elegant plein-air paintings. The works will be available to see at Dart Gallery from Friday 11 September.
Several titles point to the settings that recur across the selection: ‘White Sail at Dartmouth’, ‘High Viewpoint, Dittisham’, ‘Splat Cove, Salcombe’ and ‘Summer at Warfleet’. The group also includes ‘Sailing at Dittisham’, ‘View Down to Hope Cove’ and ‘Blackpool Sands Through the Trees’.
Other works listed in the collection include ‘Tranquil Waters, Hope Cove’, ‘Walking at Low Tide, Dittisham’, ‘Morning Light at South Sands’ and ‘Above Blackpool Sands’.
